About Tom
Meet Tom! Tom was recently surrendered along with his mother, sister, and another cat that was in their home as well. Tom is only 3 and has such a kind soul. Tom is a very loving and curious large boy and classic cuddly tomcat. He is very beautiful with a defined grey/white coat especially around his face. Tom does have FIV, however FIV-positive cats can safely live with other, non-FIV cats. Because the virus is primarily transmitted through deep, penetrating bite wounds during intense fighting, neutered/spayed indoor cats that get along well have a very low risk of spreading the virus through normal, casual interaction like sharing bowls or grooming. Cats with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus can live long, normal, and happy lives with proper care. Many FIV-positive cats live the same, or nearly the same, lifespan as uninfected cats. Key care includes keeping them indoors, feeding a high-quality diet, and regular vet checkups similar to any other cat. Tom is very well behaved and gets along with other cats but adored people. He loves to chase after chiming bell ball toys and lounge around the windowsill enjoying the newly warm weather. Tom is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Tom is located at the Riverhead Animal Shelter at 324 Church Lane in Aquebogue. Please call 631 765 1811 with any questions or concerns. We are open every day 10 am-3pm for visitors, no appointments needed! Come meet Tom!
