About Hanni

Hi, my name is Hanni! I'm in a FOSTER HOME! Please schedule a meeting with me! -Personality: Playful, Brave, Loyal, Affectionate -Can Live with Cats: Needs a cat buddy please! He is playful and young -Can Live with Dogs: No dogs. He survived what was likely a dog attack so it's a no from Hanni! -Can Live with Kids: Maybe, meet and find out if it's a match -Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes, Hanni is required to be an indoor cat -History of Litter Box Issues: None -Energy Level: Med-High -Bite History: None -Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: A microchip before going home Additional Information: Hanni is a SURVIVOR! He arrived to Whatcom Humane Society several weeks ago badly injured and in need of life-saving care. Upon examination in our veterinary clinic, it was determined that Hanni was attacked and suffered deep cuts and wounds to his head, neck and ear and a broken jaw. Our veterinary clinic stabilized him and provided round-the-clock (he went home at night with our veterinarian), treating his wounds, providing anti-biotics, bandage changes and lots and lots of TLC. His prognosis was not great but he quickly won over hearts of all our staff who did all they could to help him. Hanni's spirit was strong and he continued to improve each day. His wound healed, leaving behind a deformed ear (but internally working okay) a bit of a lazy eye and an uneven, but healed jaw. Through all his treatments, he NEVER stopped purring and seeking attention from his caretakers. Hanni is now continuing his recovery in a wonderful volunteer foster home. He has his own bedroom and enjoys playing with toys, sitting on his foster mom's lap and helping her read books and safely birdwatching from a big picture window. Hanni eats wet food like a champ and is able to eat small kibble. He would really benefit from a low-traffic home that has the resources to invest in his future. He will need follow-up veterinary care and may require dental work in the future. He would love another mellow, but active cat to play with. If you would like to learn more about sweet Hanni, please contact our foster coordinator at: foster@whatcomhumane.org If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
