A volunteer writes: In the cat adoption room I spy a shy tuxie lady looking at me with curiosity. It's Luisita, and after some slow blinks and sweet talk on my part, she comes down to greet me with soft sniffs and an appreciative demeanor. This mellow and graceful girl came to the Care Center by way of a good samaritan, who spotted her living in her apartment building(after her owner was taken into care) and began feeding her. She's now safe and sound with us, making friends with team members and scoring high on her behavior exam. Luisita would be great fit for almost any kind of household; she's shy at first but warms up and makes friends easily. She's looking for a human to forge a love connection with, and a real forever home as well. Meet our lovely Luisita at the Manhattan Care Center today! Luisita is on top of her den with forward ears and soft almond eyes. She is hesitant at first, her tail curled around her body, but approaches the assessor slowly to sniff their hand. Luisita then warms up quickly to head and cheek pets, leaning in. She stands on the den and allows full pets along her body, her tail raising in the air. Luisita cannot be coaxed to jump off the den, but is calm with pressure applied on her chest and shoulders. Luisita interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
