This handsome little guy may be small in size, but his heart is full of sweetness. He is still settling into home life and discovering that the world can be a safe and loving place. With patience and kindness, Selfie’s personality is already beginning to blossom, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch his confidence grow day by day. Daily Routine & Lifestyle Selfie is an easygoing companion who enjoys a predictable, low-key routine. He wakes up when his people wake up and heads outside for a quick potty break before returning inside to relax. Around 9:00 am, he is offered breakfast, which he tends to nibble on throughout the day— he especially enjoys chicken, broth, and rice and may leave the kibble behind depending on his mood. During the day, Selfie is content to lounge quietly in the house as long as he gets regular opportunities to go outside to the backyard. He truly lights up in the afternoons when the teens return from school, greeting them with enthusiastic tail wags and happily spending time nearby while they do homework. He may chew on one of his favorite toys or simply relax beside his people. In the evening, he enjoys another meal around 8:00 pm, followed by a final potty break around 10:00 pm. He sleeps peacefully through the night in his pen or sometimes chooses to curl up inside his open crate until morning. Selfie is not yet leash trained and currently feels frightened when a leash is attached to his collar. His foster family has been gently introducing short training sessions with treats, and he is slowly making progress. Personality: From Shy Beginnings to Playful Moments When Selfie first arrived, he was shy and frightened. After about a week, his confidence began to grow. He started to feel comfortable with his foster family—especially the teenagers— and began showing glimpses of his playful, affectionate nature. One of his favorite games is inviting his people to chase him: he will gently place a paw on them and then run away, waiting for them to follow. If they don’t, he will return and tap them again as if to say, “Come play with me!” Selfie is a sweet, gentle boy who enjoys companionship but also appreciates having his own space. He may follow his person from room to room and wait patiently outside the bathroom door, yet he also has cozy hiding spots where he likes to retreat for quiet rest. He loves belly rubs, gentle pets, and simply being near his people. Activity Level & Play Style Selfie strikes a nice balance between playful and relaxed. He is not a high-energy dog, but he is certainly not lazy either. Indoors, he is calm and content to lounge. Outdoors, he enjoys exploring the backyard, playing with a ball, and occasionally bursting into joyful zoomies. Training & Home Habits Selfie is doing very well with his house manners. He appears to be potty trained and has only had occasional accidents when he was not taken outside in time. With consistent access to the yard— especially if a doggy door were available— he is likely to maintain excellent habits. He is crate trained and sleeps comfortably through the night in his open crate. He is not a barker and has rarely made noise, though he may growl playfully when chasing the backyard cat. Like many young dogs, Selfie enjoys chewing. He especially loves silicone chew toys and can dismantle them quickly, so sturdy toys are recommended. He also enjoys sniffing around in the yard and may nose through soil in search of interesting scents. What Makes Selfie Special One of the most endearing things about Selfie is the gentle way he asks for connection. Instead of barking or demanding attention, he softly places his paw on you— his sweet little signal that he is ready to trust, play, or receive affection. It is a small gesture that melts hearts every time. Selfie is a tender, sensitive boy who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life in a loving home can be. For someone willing to give him patience, kindness, and reassurance, he will offer unwavering loyalty and a deeply meaningful bond.
