About Jolene
Jolene is a medium-sized brown Lab/Retriever mix who has plenty of energy to spare and a leaner build than the typical lab. The retriever side is strong in her personality and looks, and it drives her to run in open fields and zoom around the dog park, especially if there are other dogs to chase or be chased by. Jolene is always up for a long walk, and she can really pick up speed when she’s excited. Despite all that energy, she’s pretty relaxed indoors and sticks close by her people, happiest when she can curl up on the couch and be near you. She adjusts well to a daily routine and has done well with boarders and fosters, quickly warming up to those who give her time and patience. With new dogs and people, she can be guarded, but becomes sweet and affectionate once she feels safe. Jolene gets along well with friendly dogs and children—she’s lived with both in her foster homes. She’s not a fan of cats and should have her own food space, as she guards her meals and will nip or growl if someone disturbs her while eating. With people she trusts, she loves affection and snuggles. Jolene is both house trained and crate trained and knows her basic commands (sit, wait, lay down, and more). She walks on a Gentle Leader because she can pull on leash out of excitement and sometimes gets anxious in new situations, especially if she senses she’s not in control. Off-leash recall needs some work—she’s better in fenced or contained spaces. Jolene may have some mild allergies, particularly in spring and summer when her eyes get red. She has done best on fish or lamb-based diets and has a sensitive stomach. Jolene came from a tough background and has experienced anxiety and loss. She really thrives with a routine, reassurance, and an adopter who won’t leave her alone for long stretches. She’s anxious by nature and tends to get defensive if she feels threatened around her space or her food, but what she wants most is just to feel safe and loved. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Jolene will make a devoted companion for someone patient who loves active dogs and can offer her the emotional stability she’s missed. Let’s make it official, apply to adopt!
