At 8 years old, Consuela is learning how to navigate a world that suddenly feels very different. After losing the only home and person she’s ever known, she’s searching for one simple thing... someone to love and stay close to. And love she does. From the moment she arrived into her foster home, Consuela showed just how deeply she connects to her people. She came right up, allowed herself to be held, and quickly made it clear that she just wants to be near you. She’ll follow you from room to room, gently paw for attention, and happily climb into your lap for comfort and affection. Being close is where she feels safe. Consuela would do best in a calm, patient home with someone who is around often and understands small breed needs. We don’t yet know how she does with cats or other dogs, but she did come from a home with another small dog. Consuela has so much love to give. She is hoping to find someone willing to meet her where she is, hold her close, and remind her that she’s home again. Could that be you?We do not have a facility for you to visit. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support.
