Meet Tanner — Resilient, Playful, and Ready to be part of your family! Tanner's story didn't start easy — with just a few weeks old, he was found alone in an alleyway in mid-December after getting into something he shouldn't have. But thanks to the help of a good samaritan and the vet staff, this little fighter bounced back overnight and hasn't stopped moving forward since. Estimated to have been born in early November, Tanner is everything you love about puppyhood: curious, joyful, affectionate, and full of life. His favorite things include: Running and playing Making new dog friends Car rides (he calmly lies down like a pro!) Learning new things — especially when treats are involved Tanner is currently working on potty training and doing great. He gets along well with other dogs, is good with kids, and is playfully curious about cats. Tanner is: Up to date on vaccines and preventatives Negative fecal test Crate trained Available as Foster-to-Adopt - This means his future family can welcome him home now while he completes his remaining medical care, including neuter — and then make it official! He's expected to grow into a handsome medium-to-large dog (around 60–68 lbs) — the perfect future adventure buddy. Complete an adoption application today. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at one of our Meet The Pets events or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet's photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
