Sweet Sara is a 2-3 year old pit mix who found herself at Trenton Animal Shelter after being discovered as a stray in Trenton—like so many deserving dogs before her. Fortunately, she didn’t stay there long before one of our volunteers welcomed her into foster care, where she’s been quietly blossoming! Sara is a calm, gentle girl with a soft personality. She’s both crate trained and housebroken, and she’s perfectly content spending her days relaxing at home. She enjoys leisurely walks in the park and takes in the world at her own pace—though squirrels definitely catch her attention, so you may need to keep a good hold on the leash when one appears! This sweet pup takes treats gently and is currently learning basic commands. Sara is living with both dogs and cats in her foster home. She’s tolerant of other dogs, but takes time to feel comfortable, so slow introductions and patience are important. She’s also very interested in the cats, so a home without cats may be best for her. We think Sara could thrive either as an only dog or with the right calm canine companion! At home, Sara’s favorite activities are simple ones: cozy naps on the couch or in her bed, and sometimes she’ll even wander into her crate on her own when she’s ready to rest. She greets her people with adorable wiggles when they walk into the room and has been friendly with every person she’s met so far! Sara isn’t overly energetic or jumpy—just a loving, mellow dog looking for a peaceful home where she can continue to feel safe and loved. With a little patience and a lot of kindness, she will make a wonderful addition to the right family. Sara is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, and she’s ready to find the forever home she deserves.
