About Dexter

Nice to meet you! I was surrendered to OCAS when my owner could no longer care for me and I was fearful when I first arrived. Now that I've had time to adjust, I'm feeling a little better about my surroundings. I just need kind people to go slowly with me. I'm a handsome guy and I'm looking forward to loving my people in a new home. NOTES FROM MY FRIENDS: Dexter is super playful and loves to run. He loves chasing the ball and meeting new people and running around and sometimes talks to you! He does have a strong pull on the leash when walking him. Went to a park and threw a ball, let him run around in a backyard, walked around Franklin St. and meet many new people. He is so sweet and likes cuddles. He spent the day at Blue Dog Farm and was so excited to check out all the new sights and animals. He had a few zoomies, greeted the folks on the farm, and even managed to sneak in a kiss or two. He was a little cautious at first when meeting new people, but it didn’t take long before he was happily following along. Dexter walked beautifully on leash and would look up for praise (and maybe a treat or two). He did well in the car, though it took a little convincing to hop in at first. My favorite moment was when I sat down and he immediately leaned into me, asking for belly rubs or trying to climb right into my lap. He’s such a sweet, affectionate boy. Dexter is a very sweet and cuddly boy! He loves to hang out around the house, especially on the couch, but will also want to go out and go on long walks. He will pull just a little bit at first out of excitement but other than that he's very good. He is not completely house trained, but with some positive reinforcement and encouragement he will master it! Dexter seems crate trained. He's definitely interested in cats and wants to play with them, even if the cats don't want to. He seems good around children and one girl pet him and he was very excited to meet her. I know he would be such a good boy to have at home with a little bit of training! I love just how he loves to chill and hang out around the house, but then he wants to go outside and play, he will definitely be down to do that too.
