NOTE: Please read our entire write-up before contacting us. If you don't know the age, breed, weight, what vet care we provide our dogs, the adoption fee, or how to apply, you have not read the write-up. Maui Breed: Chinese Crested Powder Puff DOB: 11-28-2023 Gender: Male, neutered Weight: 6 pounds and needs to gain another pound or so Microchipped Adoption Fee: $350 Maui is a wild and crazy boy who LOVES running around and playing! When he is done with play he can settle down and relax in your lap or next to you. He's a gentle little guy and sweet! We've seen Maui be snarky with strange dogs that run up to him and he has not always been good with strange dogs. New introductions must be done properly and then he's fine. Maui doesn't get to decide with whom his foster talks, pets, or plays. He also doesn't get to decide who enters the home. If he objects, he is corrected, but he is also given time to meet other dogs safely and does fine once he knows more about them. Maui entered our program with a serious chest wall hernia that bulged through his ribs. His vet was able to repair the hernia and pull his ribs back together. The vet suspects Maui was injured by a larger dog that punctured his side when he was much younger, which may explain Maui's caution with some dogs. He has been cleared for adoption. Maui also had trouble gaining weight, but has finally gained about two pounds! He still needs to add half a pound to a pound, but is eating well and getting there! Maui is looking for an experienced and respectful home with another small dog. He does require a careful introduction. He is also a door darter and needs a family that can set up a barrier between the front door and outside. His current home has a screened in porch and a fully fenced yard.
