About Shai
Shai is a small, 5-year-old Maltipoo who's just beginning to learn what real companionship looks like. She spent years in a breeding environment and had her last litter while already in rescue care, so everything about home life is still pretty new to her. Shai thrives on closeness, loves cuddling on laps, and insists on sleeping beside her favorite person. She’s quick to shower affection, often doling out kisses and seeking out those comforting snuggles. Though she has her bursts of high energy and playfulness, Shai still enjoys quiet downtime with the family once she's had a chance to run off her wiggles. She’s currently potty pad trained, and her foster is helping her adjust to outdoor pottying, but she can be a little set in her ways—patience and consistency will matter here. Walks on a leash are getting easier but will need ongoing positive reinforcement. Car rides remain intimidating for her, so expect to take things slowly. Shai’s best fit is a home with another friendly dog, as she learns well from canine companions and appreciates the company. Because she loves to run and jump, a yard with a secure fence would help her burn off energy safely. She does not do well with cats, so a feline-free home is important. Shai is spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines. She’s looking for a gentle, patient family ready to help her discover that dogs get to be loved, too.
