Blue is a young, male Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler with a short black and blue coat. He is currently in Baton Rouge, LA, learning about life indoors for the first time. Blue is not yet house trained, is neutered, and is up to date on his vaccinations. While he doesn’t have any special needs, he’s heartworm positive and needs an adopter committed to his treatment.

About Blue

Blue is a 2-year-old blue heeler who’s already had his share of rough luck. His former owner passed away, and after spending his whole life chained outside, he ended up loose and injured. Mardi Paws stepped in to handle his ear injury, but his family never returned for him or his brother. Blue has only recently started to discover life as an actual dog. He’s neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and currently heartworm positive, so any adopter will need to see him through his treatment. He needs patience and structure—things he’s never known. Blue isn’t a fan of cats and can be particular with male dogs, so the right home will be important. Breed experience is strongly preferred since heelers are driven and intelligent. While he’s got his quirks, Blue is loyal and could become a truly special companion for someone prepared to offer him a fresh start. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
