About Eileen

**$545 in pledges to any rescue that may pull!** Elk is a young cat who was brought into the shelter after being found as a stray having shown signs of injury to her leg. Despite her discomfort, she has been quietly adjusting to the shelter environment while receiving care and evaluation. On 3/18 we were able to amputate the hind leg and Elk is now looking for rescue or a foster to help her recover. Elk is a gentle, shy girl who is still learning to feel safe in her surroundings. She has shown that she enjoys calm companionship, choosing to quietly observe and take in her environment at her own pace. While she may initially be a bit cautious, slinking back when unsure, however she quickly settles when given space and patience. Elk has already shown small but meaningful progress, relaxing comfortably in her space and even engaging with soft curiosity. According to her finder, she has a playful side as well, suggesting that with time and trust, her personality will continue to blossom into a sweet and interactive companion. With medical care and a soft place to recover, Elk can blossom into the sweet and playful girl she knows she can be! VIDEOS: Sitting with Elk: https://youtube.com/shorts/6cQEKoKAmpg?feature=share BEHAVIOR NOTES: On 3/19 Per Staff: Me and another staff went to meet Elk and she was laying in her bed. When we approached she slinked back. I reached my hand out and she just sat there. I did not attempt to pet as she seemed uncomfortable and just needs some more time to come around. On 3/17 per staff: Hung out with Elk today. She was hanging out in her den and gave some sniffs my way. She did slink back briefly when I put my hand close by so I chose to just hang out by her cageside. After about a minute she adjusted herself to lay more comfortably.
