About Zoey Puppy
Meet Zoey, a Chow/Shar-Pei mix pup who looks like a stuffed animal and thinks like a bodyguard. At just seven months old (born 8/17/25) and 22 pounds, she is still growing into herself, but full of potential for the adopter who knows what this breed combination actually means. Zoey is a wonderful girl: loyal, cuddly, and motivated by both food and affection. She sits, stays, and downs on command and will happily perform her whole trick repertoire for a treat. She walks nicely on a leash, and is working on her impulse control when she spots other dogs (She wants to run and play! Dogs her own size appeal to her most). People that make it into her circle can expect a devoted, loving, high-energy companion. To be clear, Zoey is not a dog for just anyone, and that is ok. Chows and Shar-Peis are both bred to be highly protective, and that instinct runs deep. It does not fade with age or good intentions. Zoey needs an adopter who has navigated similar breed temperaments, knows how to introduce her properly to new people, and is prepared to invest in structured, ongoing training. A confident, experienced handler will find her a great match. Someone expecting a social, easygoing dog may....well, they're probably setting themselves up for a struggle. So why is Zoey in rescue? Zoey was surrendered by a family who loved her very much. They were renting and were given no choice but to rehome her after a neighbor complained about barking. For what it is worth, Zoey has shown no signs of excessive noise in foster care. Zoey is the right fit if you: Own your home Have hands-on experience with guardian breeds Can physically manage and train a strong-willed, intelligent dog Are looking for a deeply loyal companion, not a social butterfly Adoption fee is $375.
