Remember “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”? Fred Rogers had a couple of sayings that he repeated often. He said that whenever he was scared, his mother said, “Look for the helpers.” And at the end of his show, he told his TV audience, “I like you just the way you are.” I am a shy adult guy named Fred. I hope you will like me just the way I am. I know there are helpers here. They pet me, and I like that. And they do seem to like me. I came here to this shelter with a lot of other cats and kittens. It can be overwhelming. But people are nice to me, and I like that. Maybe Mister Rogers had a good point. I’ll try to remember to look to the helpers. Maybe one day I won’t be so shy. I am friendly when I get to know someone. I can have fun. And maybe someone will like me – love me – just the way I am. I’m Fred, and I’d love to be your sweet boy one day.
