Jaxson is a 3yearold black cat with a sensitive nature and a history that's left him unsure of new places and people. In his previous home, it took over a month before he allowed his finder to pet him, but eventually began following her around and sleeping beside her. He's also social with other cats and having feline companions around seems to help him feel safer. Recently, Jaxson has begun showing promising signs of trust. He'll eat tossed treats, engage in light play, offer soft vocalizations, and even seek out attention, though his body language can be mixed as he navigates feeling both interested and unsure. He's still hyperalert at times and may retreat to a safe spot when he's done, but overall he's showing the beginnings of a more confident, affectionate side. Because he's slow to warm up and still working through fear-based behaviors, Jaxson will do best in a patient, catsavvy home with teens or adults who understand how to give him space and move at his pace. A friendly resident cat may be very helpful in continuing his progress. Jaxson isn't a cat who adjusts overnight, but for someone willing to offer calm, consistent reassurance, he has the potential to become a devoted companion who feels safe enough to show his softer side.
