About Buttercup
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Foster or forever home wanted, meet Buttercup! We were so shocked to see Buttercup on the 72 hour list the day after she arrived at the Lancaster shelter. She is living proof of how desperate things are at the shelters these days. A young 9 month old puppy and a very desirable breed can't even escape the dreaded list. Well, we acted fast and got her out of there as soon as we could. We know little about her temperament since she's new to the rescue so we're still figuring it out. What we do know is this was not her first time at the shelter. She arrived as a stray on November 13 of 2025, with no identification and no microchip. At the time of her intake exam, she scored the highest possible behavior score of 1/5, stating she was sweet and easily handled. At that time, they aged her at 5 months. She was adopted on November 19, 2025. Fast forward to March 17, 2026, and Buttercup was surrendered by the owner to the Lancaster shelter because they were moving and unable to take her with them. Once again, she scored 1/5 on behavior and cited as being very sweet. The shelter was initially requiring her be spayed prior to us picking her up so we were scheduled to get her March 23rd. They called on that day to inform us that they were unable to perform surgery due to lack of veterinary staff being available. So finally, the little princess got to escape doggy jail! She is a very sweet and pretty girl. She seems unscathed by this experience for sure. Now to finally find her the forever home she so deserves! If Buttercup sounds like a pup you'd be interested in meeting, please head over to labradorsandfriends.org to fill out an application. Buttercup is located in Southern California.
