About Sammy
Meet Sammy! Sammy is a 1.5-year-old social butterfly who never met a friend he didn’t like—especially if that friend has four legs! He’s very dog friendly and thrives in the company of other pups, making him a great addition to a multi-dog home. Sammy has done well with kids ages 8 and up, and his food and treat motivation makes him eager to please and excited to learn. He might be fine with kid younger than that, he just hasn’t been exposed to them and can be a little bit jumpy, although his foster is doing a great job of working with him on that. He’s a great candidate for continuing basic obedience training and would love a family who enjoys working with him and celebrating his wins. One of Sammy’s favorite things? Water! Whether it’s splashing, playing, or cooling off, he’s all in. He’s also recall rained, so would make a perfect summertime adventure buddy! He’s also proven to be a respectful boy around free-range chickens, showing little to no interest in them. Sammy has not been cat tested, although he may do fine given his lack of prey-drive. But a home without cats or with a slow, proper introduction would be best. If you’re looking for a friendly, fun-loving dog who’s ready to be your adventure buddy and best friend, Sammy might just be your perfect match! Sammy is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is neutered, up to date on core vaccinations, monthly preventatives, and is heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of his care while in foster. He will require an owner committed to continued training and socialization. To apply to adopt Sammy, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt. Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption. Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
