About Ember

Location: St Paul, MN Ember came to us around Thanksgiving as a skinny, mangey puppy but as sweet as can be. We quickly learned that she is a very vocal gal, not by barking, but by groaning! Wherever she settles in, she lets you know with an extended groan. If she is disturbed or repositions herself while settled in, she usually accompanies it also with a groan. She has given us so many laughs, and sometimes we have to literally wait until her groan is finished before we respond. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and knows basic commands. She loves our resident dogs and cats, even though they don't reciprocate the love. We think she has some border collie in her as she constantly keeps an eye on the cats and herds us and our dogs. She does know the term "leave it" for this reason:) Ember walks well on a leash by herself, but if she's walking with our resident dogs, she makes it more of a competition with pulling. She is very interested in creatures on our walks and lets the whole block know with her whines and a few barks, so we are working on that:) Ember has been dealing with some gastrointestinal sensitivity for a few months now, and after a broad vet work-up that was negative, she is suspected to have food allergies. Therefore, she is on a hypoallergenic diet (strictly Royal Kanin Hydrolyzed Protein food), which she will likely have to be on for the rest of her life. We have now had Ember the longest of any of our fosters because of her medical issues, and therefore we love her very much and are dedicated to finding her the best home. She is an incredibly smart dog and will be a fantastic and loyal pet to her future family. She very much deserves someone who can provide this hypoallergenic diet and possibly medications. You would never know it by interacting with her because she is perfection otherwise! --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.
