Happy is a small, male Chihuahua with a black and brown coat. He’s estimated to be about 9 years and 2 months old, making him a senior dog. Currently in Tunkhannock, PA, his vaccinations are up to date and he’s living as a Forever Foster through the sanctuary due to a heart murmur. As a nod to his March 27 birthday, Happy is an Aries—known for their boldness and charm.

About Happy

Happy spent the early part of his life fending for himself underneath a car in South Jersey, fed by a Good Samaritan until Animal Control brought him to safety. When he arrived, Happy wanted no contact—growling, nipping, and shying away from people. Over his time at the sanctuary, though, he’s become one of the friendliest greeters, now approaching guests for pets and attention, though he’s still uneasy about being picked up and it’s handled gently at his own speed. Happy has a heart murmur that’s monitored by a vet, and because of it, he's not currently a candidate for neuter or dental work. He joins the "Forever Foster" program, which means his medical care will be supported long-term by the sanctuary. He gets along well with almost every dog in his group, except for Mouse—sometimes personalities just clash. A calm home with mellow pets suits him best, and he’s likely to do fine with cats and most other dogs. Active young kids are not a fit for him, but a retiree or adult household who understands slow adjustment and has patience would be the right match. After years of surviving, Happy deserves a home where he can really live. Ready to open your home to a quirky old soul? Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
