About Jetson
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Jetson. I'm a senior gentleman with plenty of pep left in my step! I was surrendered to the shelter by my family last month, and those nice people saw right away that I needed some TLC. I had a fatty tumor that tested benign, so it's been removed. My nose was getting scaly, so that was tested too. I have Collie Nose (discoid lupus), which is manageable and not life-threatening. Keep me out of the sun or get me some doggy sunscreen, and it hasn't been an issue. Okay, if I haven't scared you off with my old man manageable issues, here's the awesome information about me from my foster mom. Thanks for reading! The Positives: Dogs potty outside only - he will give a howl or short bark to let you know it's time! Crates can be nice places to rest - would prefer to sleep with you, but he'll crate overnight if you're not a dog in the bed person. Want to go for a walk? Jetson has excellent leash manners and is happy with short or long walks. Dogs are my friends - he is outgoing, friendly, and submissive to alphas. Cats are fine - mostly he ignores or defers to them. Children - he was created for them, the absolute best child-friendly dog I've met! He's not going to knock them over, nip at their heels, or do anything but love them. Comes when he is called. Knows sit. He is an awesome office partner. Quiet, sweet, affectionate, confident. Litter boxes belong to the cats. Furniture is for the humans unless you invite him up. He loves dog beds. More of a sight hound than a scent hound. Still gets frisky and likes to have a good romp in the yard, but he doesn't need hours of exercise each day. He is 35 pounds of perfection. The Negatives: He likes the idea of chasing something you throw, but he's not invested in picking it up or returning it to you. This does not bother me because I have two that nag me constantly to throw ball :). It's nice to have one who goes out and chases the squirrels and rabbits out of my gardens. So, not really a negative, unless you want a retriever type. Jetson would make an excellent companion dog for anyone who's used to having two dogs and maybe has lost one to old age or illness. He'd be an excellent choice for anyone single/newly single who wants some unconditional love from the sweetest, most affable dog you could imagine. Children in the house and you need a nice, house-trained dog that they can learn with instead of all the fuss a puppy entails? Jetson is your guy. He lets my five year old granddaughter walk him on his leash. He still loves to play, will flush out the squirrels or varmets in your backyard, and lie by your side to watch television.
