About Peanut Brittle
Peanut Brittle is a gentle senior dog. He is quiet and spends his retirement days relaxing. He enjoys a little time each day sunbathing and each morning goes on a leisurely walk. He is not interested in engaging with toys. Peanut is an ideal companion to someone with a similar unhurried lifestyle who would like to share it with him. He is a dream! Peanut Brittle is house trained and sleeps through the night on the bed. His wake up is at 7am. Peanut Brittle was transferred to Valley Humane on 3/12 from the Tri-City Animal Shelter. He is aged 10+ years and weighs 8.2 pounds. Thank you for adopting your new TLC pet from VHS. TLC pets can have a good quality of life with the right care for some period of time. VHS seeks out special adopters who have the ability to become this pet’s family and open their homes to provide ongoing care for the duration of their new pet’s life. These special adoptions are "as is" with no guarantee of a definitive prognosis. VHS won't be able to provide any additional medical care after the time of adoption, so we ask that the new family agree to continue ongoing veterinary care for their new family member. This dog has been diagnosed with the following conditions. A copy of both lab work and x-rays can be provided to the adopting family to share with their veterinarian. Periodontal disease: this dog has very few remaining teeth (9 total). He recently had a dental cleaning of his remaining teeth at the VHS surgery center. He may or may not prefer soft/canned food for the rest of his life Heart murmur: This dog has a heart murmur. It is a Grade 4 out of 6, where Grade 1 is the quietest murmur and 6 is the loudest. Based on x-rays and the location of the murmur, he most likely has a condition called degenerative mitral valve disease. This is a common age-related disease process in small breed dogs. This degeneration predisposes him to the development of clinical heart disease in the future, requiring veterinary treatment and medication.
