About Zubin
Zubin’s story is a heartbreaking one—but his future is incredibly bright. Zubin was found roaming the streets severely underweight and unhealthy. After being rescued by JJP, he’s been on a long road to recovery, and watching him blossom has been nothing short of amazing. He’s finally learning what it means to be safe, loved, and truly a dog—and he is soaking it all up. According to a DNA test done by his foster mom, Zubin is approximately ⅓ Great Pyrenees and ⅔ Anatolian Shepherd. He currently weighs around 85 lbs and still needs to gain about 15 more pounds to reach a healthy weight. He's 3-4yrs old. Foster Life & Social Skills: Zubin is currently in a foster home in Pflugerville, where he lives with multiple dogs of various sizes and energy levels—and he does fantastically with them. He’s friendly with both large and small dogs and absolutely loves meeting new canine friends. He can be a little enthusiastic and curious (personal space isn’t always his strong suit—he’s just so friendly!), but it’s all rooted in happy, social energy. He’s also great with people and is friendly with everyone he meets. Don’t let his frown fool you – he’s the happiest boy. Personality & Home Life: Zubin is free-roaming in his foster home and does very well overall. He may occasionally sneak into the trash if something irresistible catches his nose, but a simple baby gate is an easy fix. This boy adores affection. As he’s gotten healthier, he’s discovered toys—and watching him play is incredibly sweet. He enjoys playing with dogs of all energy levels but is just as happy taking long naps and lounging around. He’s truly the perfect balance of playful and relaxed. He’s incredibly food-motivated—you might catch him standing quietly, tail wagging, just staring at you… until he hears the kibble bag or treat jar, at which point he’s up instantly Training & Manners: Zubin is great on a leash and loves his walks so much that he now waits by the door in the mornings, politely insisting it’s time to go. He’s gentle and sweet, but because food has always been so important to him, he can sometimes have enthusiastic food manners—pushing forward to get closer when food is involved. This is not aggressive behavior, just excitement. A well-balanced dog who’s comfortable with this or intentional separate feeding works perfectly. He enjoys cuddling on the bed but also appreciates having his own space—whether that’s the couch or his dog bed. Health Notes: Potty trained, though he does have mild urinary incontinence Currently on medication for incontinence, which has been helping May require long-term management; a follow-up vet consult is recommended Being treated for heartworm via the slow-kill method using ProHeart injections (next injection due in June) Does best on a salmon-based diet due to sensitive skin Fun Facts: Zubin is an absolute love bug. You’ll often catch him with his tongue hanging out, looking completely content with life—and it’s impossible not to smile when you see it. He’s internet famous! The Dodo did an article on him. 🏡 Ideal Home for Zubin: A loving, patient person or family who can shower him with affection and help make up for the love and stability he missed during the first few years of his life A home with well-balanced, friendly dogs who are comfortable with Zubie’s goofy enthusiasm and still-improving personal space manners A yard to relax in (or regular walks), where he can lounge, patrol, and occasionally bark at the wind or any perceived threats—just as a true guardian breed would 😄 A home that appreciates a dog who enjoys both playtime and downtime, and who is just as happy napping nearby as he is going for walks or hanging with his people Zubin will thrive in a home that values his gentle nature, understands his past, and is excited to continue helping him grow into the confident, happy dog he’s becoming.
