Stray is a male dog who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) with lameness of the left hind limb. Diagnostic radiographs were obtained under sedation and revealed a comminuted fracture of the left femur. This type of orthopedic injury is painful and requires specialized surgical management, with intramedullary (IM) pinning recommended to stabilize the fracture and support proper healing and long-term function. This level of care and recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his injury, Stray remains gentle and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Stray needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive surgical evaluation, treatment, and appropriate recovery care to restore comfort and mobility. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
