About Cherokee

Meet Cherokee—a loyal, goofy athlete who still thrills at a game of fetch. This strong, spirited senior is happiest chasing a frisbee, playing tug, soaking in some sunshine, and stretching his legs in the yard. He bonds hard with his person; once you’ve got his trust, you’ll have a companion for life who will lean into you for affection or a belly rub. Cherokee came into rescue in 2019 with severe hip and leg injuries, but he hasn’t let that slow him down. He’s active, happy, and eager for his daily routines. He thrives in a structured, predictable environment and needs an adult-only home where he’s the only pet. He does best with an experienced adopter who respects his space, keeps to set routines, and provides a secure yard. Cherokee has some resource guarding around food, but with consistency and a confident handler, it’s straightforward to manage—our team does so daily and without issue. He isn’t for everyone, but for the right person, Cherokee is wonderfully dedicated, funny, and genuinely rewarding. If you have the experience and setting he deserves, he’s ready for his next chapter. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
