About Pothole
Meet Pothole, a sweet ~6 year old castrated domestic medium hair who came into the shelter on 3/13. Pothole had a severely large abscessated wound on his right head and neck, weighing his head down. Pothole has been through several rounds of wound care under anesthesia, first to drain the fluid, then to resect dead/necrotic areas of skin, and then to place/remove drains. He's been so cooperative thorugh it all. He's currently battling a new fever, so the medical team is switching his antibiotics and treating him with fluids and appetite support. Pothole has FIV, which may make it a bit harder for him to heal up, but that isn't stopping him yet. Lastly, Pothole had severe ear infections (bacteria/yeast) when he came in, they were treated and will need a recheck at or around April 7th and may need a second treatment if infection persists on the microcope. After his first treatment, he's no longer shaking his head or scratching at his ears :) Pothole is in need of urgent rescue to a group able to continue his wound care. Once he heals up, we're sure he'll be a lovely companion and pet - he's been so tolerant of all of his medical care, including injections and oral medications. We do not have history at this time about how he does with other cats or dogs.
