About Indy In Maine
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Indy is a 4 year old collie pyr mix. She is New Gloucester, Maine. She does well and respects the boundary of invisible fence, she has never strayed off. She is happy laying outside in the sun. As Great Pyr do she likes to patrol the fence boundary and will bark when she sees something suspicious, especially at the neighbor dogs but she responds well when called back inside if there is too much barking. Inside the home, she likes to lay around and sleep during the day. She actively seeks attention from people- if they give her pets she will come back for more, nudging a hand to get more attention or trying to snuggle up on the couch with whoever gives her attention. She is fully potty trained, and has grown out of any puppy chewing. She also sleeps in a crate at night, as as soon as we say 'bedtime' she loves going right in her crate with a treat. She will quietly rest until we let her out in the morning (7-8am), so no nighttime barking like some great pyr will do, unless she hears an owl or something very odd outside. Indy likes hikes snowmobile trails, on a long lead, she likes to stay close and does respond well if called back. She likes walks, but does not enjoy going for runs. She enjoys a lazier pace. She does have a bit of hip stiffness when she gets up from laying for a long time, but it doesnt slow her down outside. She will 'come' and 'sit' but doesn't love obedience training. She is more on her own terms, 'indy' came from 'independent' When she is with a group of dogs, she will quickly get excited, but then prefers to hang in the background- she doesn't really get into the center of the pack for play. Indy would likely be happiest as the only dog or an easy going male. Please visit our website for more info on our adoption process. Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.
