About Sasha
Meet Sasha or as her 4-year-old foster brother lovingly calls her… Salsa! This beautiful girl’s story begins as a sad one. Sasha was found abandoned alongside her two puppies in a rural area outside Houston known for illegal dumping. She was painfully underweight, doing everything she could just to survive. By sheer luck, she wandered onto the property of our rescue director and that moment changed her life forever. Now, let’s talk about the best part: Sasha herself. Sasha is incredibly sweet and deeply devoted to her people. Given her rough start, she can feel a little anxious in new situations (usually showing up as pacing), but with a bit of patience and reassurance, she settles in beautifully. Once she feels safe, her true personality shines and it’s the best. She’s the total package when it comes to companionship: potty trained, kennel trained, great on a leash, and an excellent car rider. She knows how to sit for treats and is impressively smart always making eye contact, always eager to learn, and always wanting to please. Sasha is the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room, curl up at your feet while you work, and happily match your daily rhythm as long as she gets to be close to you. Her biggest request? A forever family who will play fetch with her! Sasha absolutely lives for a good game and will happily (and shamelessly) drop her ball at anyone’s feet in hopes of another throw. She thrives in an active home with a yard where she can run, play, and burn off energy. While she enjoys her exercise, she also has a wonderfully balanced temperament equally happy to wind down with cuddles on the couch after a fun day. Sasha does best with dogs who respect boundaries. She’s not a fan of small, overly energetic dogs that get in her face, so a home without small dogs would be ideal. She could do great as an only dog or with a similarly sized, well mannered companion. Cats, however, are not her thing. She’s currently fostered with a 4-year-old child and, after a brief adjustment period (“what is this tiny, noisy human?!”), she’s become quite the fan. Now she follows him around in hopes of snacks or a game of fetch and even sneaks in morning snuggles on his bed. While she has shown zero aggression toward kids, she would do best in a home with children who are old enough to understand how to be gentle and respectful with dogs. According to her foster family, Sasha is simply the best girl. She is loving, loyal, and ready to find her person. Sasha is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, and is available for adoption or transport to many locations across the country. Her adoption fee is $600, which includes transportation. She’s estimated to be around 3 years old and weighs a healthy 61 pounds. To apply to adopt Sasha: Apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog
