About Chupa
Chupa has been on quite a journey since she arrived nearly two years ago. She came from a tough situation—her previous owner was hospitalized after an incident rooted in fear and pain, not malice. When she first got here, she didn’t trust people at all and was quick to defend herself. It took time, patience, and a lot of gentle patience to show her that people can be okay. Gradually, Chupa started allowing pets without defensiveness, then let herself be picked up, and eventually began approaching on her own. She used to panic if her nails got caught or if she was touched in the wrong spot. Still, with steady work, she’s learned to curl up in bed with her people and even greet visitors for affection, sometimes trying to climb right into a lap. In the last half year, she’s warmed up even more—playing with toys, interacting with other cats, and showing a surprising affection for French fries and other human food. There’s a BB under the skin on her neck, likely from an old injury, which may explain some old wariness. But recently, she even found her purr. She comes when called and gives love in return, grooming her humans when they snuggle. Chupa is ready for a home where someone will celebrate the leaps she’s made. Ready to meet your new best friend?
