About Sally I Am

**Dog breeds listed are best guesses from veterinary professionals, they are never a guarantee. www.brownpawsrescue.com. Sally I Am is going to be the girl who steals your heart and never leaves her place in your memories. Sally has recently come into care out of an abuse situation. And that's the last she wants to talk about that. Instead, Sally wants you to know that she is going to love you, hang out with you, give all her trust to you, and give you a larger purpose in life which is to give this 16-year-old lady her final home for however long that will be. Sally has partial paralysis of her trachea. What that means is she has many coughing episodes a day. Some will sound scary. Some will frighten both her and you. But most will just quickly become a part of the normal background noise of your life. Sally is not supposed to get excited. Telling you right now, that is not going to happen. She is going to dance with joy when you come home from being gone. She is going to jump up on the couch to be with you. Sometimes nailing it on the first try, sometimes the third. Sally will have her daily roll on her back with sillies. Most of the time, she stays on the couch but other times she will roll herself right off and pick herself up again. Sally will insist she can go for a walk, but we are working on her being content in a stroller. She does love a quiet walk around the yard but has been known to chase a leaf blowing by. Still a puppy at heart. Get yourself some cream cheese if you are going to be her person. Sally takes three meds, which are not too pricey at all, twice a day. Pop them in a ball of cream cheese and they are gone in split second. Stock up on canned food as Sally has a few rotten teeth left in her mouth but is not a candidate for surgery. When her breath gets stinky, she goes on an antibiotic for a week. Now, here is what this foster mama is going to insist on because Sally asked me to include this. Sally will never again receive a harsh word or physical blow due to her coughing. She is done with that nonsense when she found refuge in rescue. You must accept this is who Sally is. Secondly, you and foster mom are going to have a long talk about quality of life and vet recommendations for knowing when enough is enough. Sally must have more good hours than bad and right now she surely does. She finds joy in living, but she will most likely always feel that way. At some point, her new person will have to be strong enough to make best decisions for Sally despite her happy smile on her face and her saying, “I'm fine. It's good. No worries”. Sally is potty trained. Sleeps in a pen area with a soft bed. She would LOVE to sleep in bed with you but be prepared for interrupted sleep as she has her coughing episodes. Walks nicely on a leash. Sally I Am is deeply loved by her foster parents and only the perfect placement will be good enough for her.
