About Honey

Poor Honey – she didn’t do anything wrong except not be good with the new baby in her family. But that was enough for her to get turned in to the Bakersfield shelter, a high kill shelter where a quiet dog, not a puppy, is all too likely to end up with a death sentence. Fortunately, one of our volunteers with a lot of experience with cattle dogs saw her potential, reached out to us and helped us to bring Honey to Santa Barbara where she is now in foster care and doing really well. Honey is the full package of classic cattle dog. She is smart, obedient and eager to please, really well trained, and has just enough of a fierce edge to keep others in check and keep you safe. Somebody put a serious effort into raising her well and it shows in what a good house dog she is. Honey does have some spice because she is a cattle dog. She would like the herd when things get lively. She’s living well with a range of other dogs and various sizes and ages but she would not be good with another dog that likes to mix it up. She doesn’t really play with other dogs but she certainly loves toys and balls! There are no cats here but I would be hesitant to place her in a home with one without doing some serious testing. She is of course spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She had a recent vet exam and came through with flying colors. If interested, please contact Lee at k9krma@gmail.com
