About Dancer

Dancer is a two-year-old pit bull mix who went from surviving on the streets of Minneapolis to nearly running out of time in a crowded shelter, before landing in a loving foster home in Iowa. He’s spent the past couple months learning all the basics and how good it feels to have a safe place to crash. Dancer is pure affection and loves to cuddle up on laps or sleep next to his people. He does well crated at night or can snooze happily in a closed-off room while his foster humans work. Treats are the way to his heart, and he knows how to sit, lie down, shake, and 'place' on command. Leash walks are his preferred activity, and he’s made impressive progress with basic manners, though he still needs an experienced owner to continue his training. Dancer’s playful streak comes out with his toys—he’s a tough chewer, so his family will need to watch him and pick sturdy gear. He’s generally gentle but does still get a bit mouthy during play, so someone ready to keep helping with bite inhibition is key. Dancer can coexist calmly with cats and likes to investigate but always behaves. He’s done best with easy-going dogs and would thrive as either an only pet or with a chill canine friend. While Dancer settles in beautifully over time, new adopters should plan on a transition period of a month or so for him to fully relax. He is eager to please and just needs a patient, structured home to bring out his very best. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
