About Mya

Mya came to the shelter on Valentine’s Day, which fits her reputation as a total lovebug. She’s a beautiful, large pit bull terrier with an incredibly soft coat. Mya is house trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She’s friendly with other dogs—especially those that are confident but not dominant. Her play style can be a bit rough, but she reads other dogs well and adjusts to their cues. Mya is people-oriented, loves meeting new folks, and does well with children in public settings. She’s a bright, responsive dog who knows sit, paw, and lay down and takes treats gently. She loves playing fetch as much as lounging for cuddles on the couch. She enjoys daily walks but doesn’t need a marathon runner. Mya is crate trained, although she may whine or bark for a few minutes before settling. She sleeps in her crate all night and when her people aren’t home. No destructive habits, besides loving to tug at her stuffed toys (gently). She’s a dream in the car—hops in and settles. At public outings, she stays relaxed and happy just hanging out next to her person. Mya walks easily on leash, only pulling when she sees another dog. She has a definite prey drive and fixates on squirrels or outdoor cats, so a home without cats is likely best. She’s met small dogs in public and did okay. Mya is looking for a family who can offer her play, affection, and structure; she’ll give back all the loyalty and love you could want. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
