About Curie
Curie is a young kitten who is tailless and is currently experiencing gastrointestinal concerns. On examination, her colon is filled with firm feces, and there is fecal matter adhered around the anus with associated inflammation. Tailless kittens can be predisposed to abnormal bowel function, placing them at risk for both constipation/obstipation or diarrhea. This is indicating a potential underlying congenital or neurologic issue affecting bowel function. Curie will require close monitoring, ongoing medical management, and supportive care to assess her ability to pass stool normally and maintain comfort—care that exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. An FDT has been placed due to the severity and uncertainty of her condition. Despite these challenges, Curie remains gentle and is doing her best while receiving supportive care. Curie needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive continued monitoring, medical support, and care to give her the best chance at managing her condition. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide.
