Zulu arrived to Stafford County Animal Shelter as a stray with his sister Zara. Sadly, they were never reclaimed and he is now on the search for his forever home. Zulu is understandably overwhelmed in the shelter environment and the first and most important thing to emphasize with him is that he will need a home that will allow him to decompress and acclimate (remember 3-3-3!). He is between 3-5 years of age and although he is 105 lb, this is belied by a very insecure dog who will do best with a breed-experienced owner who can help him come out of his shell. Zulu really wants to please but he is clearly unsure how to. He can be head shy when reaching over his head and while we are not sure why this is, with desensitization, this will be resolved. He does give nibbles almost as if asking for reassurance and this could be a way for him to outlet his insecurity. Zulu is a beautiful boy with tremendous potential for that right person or family. Resident dogs should come for a meet-and-greet as he has not been dog-tested as of yet. We do not know if he has ever been around cats and kids 12+ or no children may be ideal for him. He is neutered and UTD on his rabies vaccination so there are no geographical restrictions on adoption.
