About Skippy

Skippy came into rescue when he was a stray matted dog that needed to be trapped. This dog is truly a miracle. He was lost 2 years ago when on a walk with his elderly owner who was knocked down by a large stray dog who went after Skippy. After two months of searching for him, everyone thought the large dog did get him. We were all shocked to find that the dog who was trapped was in fact Skippy. Skippy needs a very patient adopter. Here is what his foster mom has to say: Skippy is a 5-year-old dog with so much potential! However, he will take a special and patient person. He has NOT shown one bit of aggression towards humans, dogs, or cats. He does not enjoy being approached by people, although he may want to sniff you on his terms. He enjoys his own personal space; in my home it is our extra bedroom. He spends most of his time alone on the bed, enjoying the space. He doesn't mind visitors if they are respectful of his space. Even though he doesn't like being touched, he does good on the leash for short walks. He does like to follow trustworthy people from room to room occasionally. Little children will NOT be a good match for Skippy!! He needs a quiet home with low traffic. He does well with my dog, experienced 8-year-old son who knows he is not allowed to touch Skippy. Skippy is indifferent with dogs so far. He does not crave interaction but doesn't mind sleeping next to dogs. A gentle dog with good boundaries would be fine for Skippy. And maybe in the future he can learn to play! Skippy is 100% potty trained! He will ever so quietly whine when he needs out. He does his business and goes back to his room. He will follow you! If you follow him, he gets scared. He is trustworthy in his room where he stays. He sleeps, eats and drinks without any harm to his surroundings. He is a very good boy. He has shown signs of opening up and has the potential to love being a true dog again. He doesn't bark that I've seen. He is such a gentle and broken soul. I hope if you are reading this, you can take a chance for a truly wonderful dog hiding in his shell. Skippy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and sadly his first owner ( not the one who lost him) debarked him. He can still bark but not a normal bark. If you are interested in meeting him, please fill out an application at fuzzballrescue.com Meets will take place in Hermiston where he is being fostered. Fence is required.
