Meet Indigo - the girl who proved that sometimes the most beautiful stories start in the middle of chaos. Indigo came to us at the end of January from one of our shelter partners in Charleston during a time when the area was experiencing a hard freeze. The shelter had to quickly evacuate their dogs to keep them safe from the extreme weather, and thankfully an amazing foster stepped up for Indigo when she needed it most. From that moment on, the rest was history. Indigo is around 5 years old and appears to be some kind of bully mix, but what truly makes her stand out is her stunning merle coat. She's absolutely beautiful, but what's even more special about Indigo is her personality. She is one of those dogs who just radiates kindness. Indigo is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loving, and she truly seems to adore everyone she meets. Kids, adults, new friends - Indigo is happy to greet them all with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart. Her story before rescue is just as unique as she is. Indigo was originally found out in a field cuddled up with a litter of kittens, keeping them warm and safe. While she clearly had a nurturing spirit in that moment, she hasn't been the biggest fan of cats since being in foster care. Because of that, we would recommend a home without cats, or one with a very experienced owner who can carefully manage slow introductions. When it comes to dogs, though, Indigo is fantastic. She's currently living with a foster brother that she absolutely loves, and she enjoys having a canine companion around. She also has wonderful house manners, is fully house trained, and has proven to be just an all-around easy, lovely dog to have in the home. Indigo has been patiently waiting since January for someone to see just how special she is. She's the kind of dog who will happily curl up beside you at the end of the day, greet you with a wagging tail every morning, and fill your home with quiet loyalty and love. After everything she's been through, Indigo deserves a family who will never let her feel uncertain again - a place where she can finally settle in and be someone's forever girl.
