About Ziva
Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Ziva. Ziva is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up. Meet Ziva! Ziva is a 3 year old female Rottie who currently weighs 80 pounds. Ziva is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find her forever home. Ziva's owner passed away and the owner's son came over and let Ziva out in the backyard and that's where she stayed for weeks. Neighbors would come by and feed her and socialize with her, but she lived outside. Once we found out about Ziva, we got her to safety in a foster home. Ziva will be looking for an experienced Rottweiler owner. Ziva is what we like to call a slow burn, but she is so worth it. She needs time to acclimate and get comfortable with you. Ziva would do best in a home that does not have another dog or with someone experienced who can give Ziva a slow introduction to the resident dog. We would say that Ziva has a moderate to high energy level. She loves to play and go for walks, but is also happy to relax when she's tired. Ziva is cat friendly and has lived in a home with multiple cats. She was curious about cats and would approach, but never showed signs of aggression. I feed cats on my walks, and some cats would approach her and rub up against her and she would kind of just act confused. Ziva would do best in a home without kids. She needs time to warm up to people and does not do well with people petting on her tail or near her ears. Once she warms up to you, she's fine with you petting her face, but we feel she needs a home without children. Ziva is a bit of a puller and has to be in front of you. She will walk calmly next to you sometimes, but could benefit from leash work. Ziva is fully potty trained and has never had an accident in the house. Ziva currently free roams and does just fine with this. Her foster dad would "dog proof" the house. She will sometimes go into her crate to lay down, but he never shut her in the crate. Ziva does exhibit signs of resource guarding and would do best if fed separately. Ziva is so sweet when she finally lets you in. It took me a few weeks, but eventually she would approach me for pets and she would let me pet her and rub her ears. She still did not want me touching her near her tail, so that is a no go area and I never tried to rub her belly. Ziva is a diva, beautiful, but demanding of respect. Ziva is reactive to other dogs, bikers and joggers when out on walks. Once she is comfortable with you, she is a wonderful dog. She will also approach and snuggle under you when she wants to be pet. She loves to go for walks and be outside. She does well in the car. I usually seatbelt her in and she just sits and enjoys the ride. Interested in learning more about Ziva or applying to adopt her?
