Demi is a 2.5-month-old female Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix with the sweetest little soul. The first part of her life was anything but easy. She was found in a hoarding situation with more than 30 other dogs, where she endured neglect and poor conditions. Demi and her brother, Oatie, were both very sick when they were rescued—Demi tested positive for parvo, was full of worms, and was extremely malnourished. Thanks to a wonderful rescue partner who stepped in to save them, Demi received the care she needed and is now safe in Iowa, ready to start the happy puppy life she always deserved. Because of her rough start, Demi is still quite shy and needs a little time to warm up to new people. Chaotic environments can make her nervous—loud noises and lots of movement tend to put her on edge—but she’s still very young, and with patience and love, we believe her confidence will continue to grow. One thing that helps Demi feel safe is the company of other dogs. The moment she sees a canine friend, her tiny tail starts wagging! She enjoys having dog companions around and would likely thrive in a home with another friendly pup. Demi is also discovering the joys of being a puppy. She’s fascinated with toys, especially soft ones she can happily chew on. Once she learns that she can trust you, she’ll gladly curl up in your lap and soak up gentle pets. Her full personality is still blossoming, but so far she has shown nothing but sweetness. As she becomes more comfortable, we can’t wait to see her confidence—and her adorable personality—continue to shine. Demi does well with other dogs, cats, and respectful kids. She’s still a young puppy, so she isn’t potty-trained or crate-trained yet and will need a family willing to guide her through the basics. With time, patience, and love, Demi will make a wonderful companion.
