Meet Lilly — a one-year-old Shepherd mix who almost didn’t make it. We pulled her from the San Antonio shelter just 15 minutes before she was scheduled to be euthanized, and we are so glad we did, because this girl is something special. Lilly came to us as an owner surrender from a severely overcrowded environment. She was underweight, had likely spent most of her life indoors, and had every reason not to trust people. But in just one month, she has shown us exactly who she is — and she is wonderful. She’s gained weight, learned to potty on a leash, and is blossoming into one of the sweetest, most devoted dogs you’ll ever meet. She loves to snuggle, she’s got a goofy, joyful personality, and when she’s off leash she prances around like she owns the place. She has great recall and is already learning commands like “sit” and “no ma’am.” She lives happily with two Chihuahua foster brothers, though she’ll always choose a lap over their company if given the option. Lilly just needs the right home. Someone with a little patience, a little space for her to run and show off, and a whole lot of love. She will repay that investment tenfold.
