One of the Best Kept Secrets at HSNT—meet Smiley! Smiley has been patiently waiting for his family since December while other dogs head home. We truly don’t understand how this wonderful boy is still overlooked. With the athletic build of a runner and the heart of a cuddle bug, Smiley is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and couch companion. He loves walks, runs, and exploring with his person, but he’s just as happy relaxing beside you at the end of the day. Smiley is a total gentleman with people of all ages, rides great in the car, and already knows Sit, Down, and Shake (plus he’s an impressive treat catcher!). His favorite move is the classic "lean in for love," where he presses close for pets and flashes that big signature smile. He has done well with some dogs at the shelter, although he can be selective about his canine friends, so a meet-and-greet is recommended if you have another pup at home. A Volunteer Prospective: Doggy Day Out with Smiley Smiley recently proved he’s just as wonderful outside the shelter. He hopped right into the car, rode calmly, explored the yard, and even showed off some joyful zoomies before settling in for snuggles. He has great house manners and only came up on furniture when invited. A volunteer also discovered that Smiley makes an excellent running buddy—he loves moving right beside you and runs smoothly and gracefully despite his strong, athletic build. Whether it’s an adventure or a cozy afternoon at home, Smiley is happiest simply spending time with his people.
