Zack is a dog who presented with a severe injury to the middle phalanx, which is currently open and concerning for significant underlying pathology. Medical assessment indicates possible neoplasia, osteomyelitis (bone infection), or callus formation from a previous fracture. Open bone injuries and infections of this nature are painful and require advanced diagnostics, potential surgical intervention, and ongoing medical management to properly treat and prevent further complications. This level of specialized care and follow-up exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Zack remains gentle and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Zack needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive the advanced veterinary evaluation, treatment, and recovery support necessary to improve comfort and quality of life.
