About Sully

Sully came to the center on 10/27/25 scared and completely shut down. In foster, he hid and cowered for a full month before finally beginning to trust. Now, he is a super playfully and happy boy. Sully would like his adopter to know the 3-3-3 rule when adopting a new pet and give him time to slowly adjust, but rest assure that his curiosity will eventually inspire him out of his shell. His personality will shine brightly as he relaxes and becomes the silly, confident, king of your house and heart. At approximately 3 years old, Sully is a very curious fellow who wants an adventurous life. He has a serious hunting instinct and playful side that craves creative enrichment, interactive toys, and things to explore and play with . A wand toy (favorite attachment is wiggle worm teaser wand toy, see Amazon) really brings out his inner kitten. He also loves string/ribbon toys, any toy that dangles, puff balls, and auto toys (electronic motion/moving toys) for sporadic independent play sessions when his owners are not available to play with him. When Sully is bored, he will beg for attention and he needs an owner who can listen. In foster, Sully went through some good kitty 101 training and quickly Learned: • Appropriate Toys- he’s learned that hands and feet are not toys but he requires frequent play sessions and kick toys to get his kitten zoomies out. • His People- Sully loves young male energy and bonded quickly with the teen boy in his foster. Any adult willing to spoil him with play and food is welcome, but he is a bit jumpy around kids and he may not know how to safely play with kids under 5. • Dining Etiquette- meals come at feeding times and begging for more wet food is not healthy. Sully is currently on Purina One Indoor dry food and canned foods. Canned food is his favorite but dry food can be provided to hold him over. He is fed 3oz. canned food, two times daily. Sully can tell time. He can be very vocal about it when dinner time is late. • Grooming- sitting still during nail trims is hard for most kitties, but as long as you hold him securely and go quick, he will cooperate. • Scratching post- loop carpet scratching post are his favorite. He loves the extra wide and tall Lean-It brand scratch board. He does great with furniture deterrent sprays and tapes to help with training but will need cat supervision and scratching post strategically placed until he gets acquainted with his new environment. • Cat Friends- Sully is very cat friendly, but he is a big kitty who likes to be in charge. He would do best with a confident cat or cat friendly pup who will not let him bully or be intimidated by his high energy level. His foster can share with you the basics of his personality and help him become the best version of himself. You may contact her for more information at: 314-852-5685 3-3-3 Rule: First 3 DAYS- freeze, flight, fight, fawn due to fear is normal (Sully freezes and needs a place to hide). First 3 WEEKS- fearful but learning routines, smells, sounds, layouts (Sully is very smart and learns routines quickly. He completely settled in by week 4) FIRST 3 MONTHS- trust builds, pet claims territory, personality shows (Sully is slow to warm up, but is totally worth the wait).
