AVAILABLE 3/18 - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! Hi, I'm Maple. I'm a Labrador mix weighing 55 lbs and I'm about 6 years old. I might even have a little Pointer in me. All we know for sure is my mom was a Lab, and I got my good looks from her! I came to the shelter after my previous owner could no longer care for me. I spent my life as an outside dog. When I arrived here, I was pretty skinny and very, very hungry. Sometimes I used to wander off from home, and the people here think I may have been searching for food. When I first got to the shelter, I was scared and overwhelmed. New people, loud noises, unfamiliar smells... it was a lot. Because of that, I didn't make the best first impression. I tried to act tough when the staff approached me. But once I realized the people here were kind, my true personality started to show. And the truth is... I'm a really sweet girl. I'm gentle, well mannered, and once I get to know you and know you're safe. I can be a little unsure of strangers at first, but that just means I take my time getting to know someone before I give them my whole heart. Because of that, I may feel happiest as the only dog. Since I spent most of my life outside, I may need a little guidance learning what life inside a home is like. But I'm a smart girl and eager to bond with someone who will give me patience and consistency. The kind of home that would make me happiest? A calm home with patient people A country home or someone who enjoys spending time outdoors Someone who understands that trust takes time I'm the kind of dog who bonds deeply. Once you earn my trust, I'll be your loyal companion who stays close and keeps watch over the people I love. I may not trust everyone right away... but the people I do trust get all of my heart. Spayed, microchipped, Heartworm Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100 Maple did test positive for Lyme Disease and has started her month long treatment of Doxycycline here at the shelter. She has also been given a Lyme Vaccine, and should continue to receive one yearly throughout her life; as well as be kept on tick/flea prvention all year long. Any other dogs in the home must come along and some dogs may require all family members to come as well! If it's a match, you can your new dog home the same day. We do offer a 2 week foster to adopt trial time, to be sure the chosen pet is a good fit, before finalizing the adoption!
