About Leka

Leka came to Freedom Ride Rescue after being rescued from harsh conditions in Albania. Even after surviving mistreatment and a long flight, he adapted quickly to his new life in Raleigh, NC with a surprisingly easygoing spirit. He’s likely a Chihuahua and Beagle mix, weighing about thirteen pounds and around five years old. Leka is unfazed by his rough past—he’s warm with people and bonds readily, given patience and gentle handling. In foster care, he’s shown himself to be flexible, attaching first to his female foster and then to a male foster after just a few days. He shares his space well with both large, energetic dogs and a senior small dog, and he’s picked up good manners from his foster’s cat. Leka is fully potty trained, does well in a crate (though he’ll vocalize if left briefly), and loves his growing stash of squeaky toys. Because he can be a bit loud when left alone, Leka isn’t suited for apartments. He enjoys walks and is always happy to explore his neighborhood on a leash. Leka’s ready to settle into a home where he can keep thriving and finish out the journey he started, surrounded by the warmth he deserves. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
