My name is Spice, and I recently arrived at FDHS with my friend Sugar (she's here too!). I'm a gorgeous German Shepherd and I'm told I'm a very good girl... just with a little extra razzle dazzle. I have some pretty big feelings, which is something a lot of Shepherds share. The shelter has been a tough place for me because it's loud and busy, and that can make an already anxious girl feel a little overwhelmed. But if you take me out of the kennels and spend some one-on-one time with me, you'll see the real me. Out in the yard, away from all the noise, I'm pretty close to perfect. I'm smart, eager to please, and very motivated by treats. I may not have had a ton of formal training yet, but I'm ready to learn and I think I'll pick up new commands very quickly. I do need a little help with my leash manners, but I have great recall in the fenced yard and I try really hard to listen. I also keep my kennel nice and clean and I'm not very destructive with my toys. I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but with a soft voice and a few snacks, I warm up quickly. I've been a bit reactive with some of the other shelter dogs, but it's hard to be your best self in a place like this. We don't know yet how I am with kids or small animals. The people here think the real me is just waiting to shine once I'm in a calm, loving home. I'm just looking for my person... someone who understands a girl like me.
