With his adorable face, calm demeanor, and friendly curiosity about the world, he’s the kind of companion who settles easily into your life and makes everyday routines feel a little more special. Whether he’s trotting happily along on a walk or curled up nearby keeping you company, Hashtag is simply a joy to have around. Daily Routine Hashtag thrives on a simple, predictable routine and has settled beautifully into life in his foster home. He sleeps in a crate right next to his foster’s bed and often goes into it on his own at bedtime. In the morning, about 30 minutes after waking up, he heads out for one of his favorite activities: a long walk of about 1–1.5 miles. On days when a walk isn’t possible first thing, he enjoys spending a few minutes in the backyard before starting the day. After the morning walk, he comes inside for breakfast, and then spends most of the day relaxing nearby. Hashtag enjoys being in the same room as his person and is often found curled up in a little ball on the floor close by, happily observing the household. In the evening, he heads out for another walk of about 1.5 miles, usually sometime between 6:30–7:30 PM, followed by dinner. After that, he settles in for a quiet evening before heading back to his crate for the night. One thing is certain: Hashtag absolutely loves being outside and going for walks. Personality When Hashtag first arrived in foster care, he seemed a bit uncertain. He needed time to decompress and feel comfortable. Since then, he has completely blossomed. Hashtag is now friendly, curious, and very social. He enjoys being petted and cuddled and has developed into a calm, affectionate companion who likes to stay close to his person without being overly clingy. He happily spends much of the day lounging nearby, content just to be part of whatever is going on. He’s also very easygoing in new environments and tends to greet the world with quiet confidence and curiosity. Another lovely trait: Hashtag is not much of a barker. Even when neighboring dogs are noisy, he typically remains calm and quiet. Walking & Outdoor Adventures Hashtag is an enthusiastic walker who gets about three miles of walking each day between his morning and evening outings. He does pull slightly on leash because he enjoys moving at a brisk pace, but he is still very manageable and easy to guide. He enjoys exploring his surroundings and occasionally tries to chase squirrels if he spots one, which adds a bit of excitement to his daily walks. Being outdoors is clearly one of his favorite things. Energy Level Inside the house, Hashtag is generally calm and relaxed. He enjoys lounging and keeping his person company. Outside, however, he shows a more energetic side. He loves his walks and recently even played fetch and ran after toys, something he hadn’t done before. Watching him discover the joy of play has been a wonderful part of his progress in foster care. Social Life Hashtag lives in a home without other pets but has interacted very well with dogs he meets while out and about. He has spent time indoors with two one-year-old German Shepherd puppies and handled the situation beautifully—curious, friendly, and never fearful or aggressive despite the size difference. He has also met a few children while on walks and has been calm and gentle during those interactions. Training & House Manners Hashtag is a very polite house guest. He is fully housetrained and has never had an accident inside the home. His regular walking schedule helps keep everything on track. He is also crate-trained and comfortable relaxing in his crate when left alone. When his foster leaves the house, he may give a bark or two when the door closes, but quickly settles down and waits calmly until they return. Hashtag understands household boundaries as well—he knows he is not allowed on most furniture, except for one designated chair. Why You’ll Love Hashtag Hashtag is the kind of dog people fall for quickly. In fact, several people have already commented during walks that they would happily adopt him after just a few minutes of meeting him. He is adorable, mellow, friendly, and easy to have around—a wonderful balance of calm indoor companion and enthusiastic outdoor walking partner. Now that he’s settled in, Hashtag spends many afternoons happily lounging in the yard, soaking up the fresh air and watching the world go by. He’s ready for a home where he can continue enjoying life’s simple pleasures— walks, sunshine, and the quiet companionship of someone who loves him.
