About Scrumps
Hi, I’m Scrumps. I had been living on the street for months and being fed by a very kind couple. Their neighbors weren’t so kind and often knocked over my food and water and shooed me away. Some of the neighborhood kids chased me, attacked me, and threw things at me. The couple who were feeding me knew I needed help because I was looking awful, but they couldn’t afford to take me to a vet. They appealed for help on Nextdoor.com and caught the attention of an SBACC volunteer, who then brought me to SBACC. I was in terrible condition, dehydrated, emaciated, and so flea-infested that my coat was covered with dirty, wet mats from me biting at myself. My mouth was in such bad shape that I could barely eat, and I smelled awful. I also had a severe URI and was extremely congested. At the vet, I was found to be FIV+ and to have stomatitis, which eventually led to me having a full mouth extraction. My mats were so tight that I had to be shaved to allow all my hot spots to heal. I was treated with daily subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, nebulization twice a day, pain meds, a special mouthwash, and fed softened food. Despite all this, I am super friendly and affectionate, very vocal, and enjoy attention. It took over a month, but I’m finally on the mend. My fur is growing back, the awful odor is gone, I’m eating up a storm, and my congestion is nearly gone. I’m finally ready to find my forever home — will it be with you?
