About Lacey

Lacey is a sweet girl who wants to please. She arrived at our shelter as a stray, very shy and unsure at first but is now ready to get out and play. She is likely less than a year old and now that she has steady food, love, and warmth, she is letting herself be a happy puppy. Lacey has been friendly with every person she has met, young and old. She can be submissive with other dogs, and she doesn't show much interest in cats. When out on our hiking trails with one-on-one attention from a kind person, she shows more confidence and bravery. When Lacey finds her forever home, she will surely blossom. At a fun-sized 32 pounds, she will be the perfect dog to take along on any adventure. Come meet Lacey! Thank you for considering Lacey and supporting our small, rural animal shelter. Adopting save lives! Our dogs and cats are among the best you will find anywhere. The Powell County Animal Shelter is at 121 Echo Hollow Road, Clay City, KY. We can arrange to meet you at the shelter during or after open hours at a time that works for you. Shelter hours are 9-3 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 10 to noon on Saturday. It is always best to make an appointment by texting or calling 859-420-0175. If the phone is not answered right away, please leave a message and your call will be returned quickly! We require an application. We can send you a copy by email, you can download one at fopcp.org, or we can arrange a time to fill one out over the phone. Our email address is pocoanimalshelter@gmail.com. Adoption fees for dogs range from $150-$200. The fee covers the mandatory spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, dewormer, and first round of flea and tick preventatives. We accept cash, checks, and a QR code on the application allows you to pay by credit card, Pay Pal, or Google Pay. We are happy to answer any questions you may have!
