My name is Zurich and I am a 3 year old male mixed breed who weighs about 20 lbs. I came from a large hoarding situation in Southern California where I lived with around 40 other dogs. While I appear to be in good physical health, I had very little experience with human handling before coming into rescue. Because of this, I'm still learning that people can be kind and safe. I will need a very patient, understanding home that is willing to give me time to adjust and build trust at my own pace. Moving too quickly with me can be overwhelming, and when I feel scared or pressured I may try to defend myself. With gentle handling, consistency, and positive reinforcement, I can continue learning that the world isn't such a scary place. I would do best in a calm, predictable home with adopters who understand shy or undersocialized dogs and are willing to help me gain confidence step by step. Progress with dogs like me takes patience, but it can be incredibly rewarding to watch me grow.
